Staying Awake
There are so many questions that you want to ask but are too much of a coward to want to know the answers. Why did you let go so easily? What was all of it for? Wasn’t I enough to make you stay?
There are mornings when you wake up too early and impulsively check your phone, and you can literally feel your heart chipping once more at the sight of nothing.
There are people that either ask too many questions or only one and hearing them alone threatened your tears to overflow, let alone answer them.
Then there are those momentary flashes of pain, the one that comes with missing your former other half, and you badly want to pick up your phone and tell him to come home into your arms.
But as you drink your second cup of coffee for tonight, brewed from the coffee pot that he gave you on your birthday, you realize that the only thing you have to focus on is staying awake. There will be moments when you will want to lay down and go back to it all, but you have to remember to keep your eyes open and shoulder on; there is another long night ahead of you. Stay awake.
